President's Talk (2024)

Dear Esteemed Members, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Greetings to you all.

It is a great honor to have the opportunity to serve you in the coming three years and to work together in advancing the field of lipids and atherosclerosis.

Our society is approaching its 30th anniversary since its establishment. The core missions of the society can be broadly categorized into three areas:

  1. Continuously enhancing and organizing academic and educational programs related to lipids and atherosclerosis.

  2. Acting as a liaison with the government, academic institutions, and medical organizations to address regulatory and reimbursement needs concerning lipids and atherosclerosis.

  3. Promoting international collaboration and elevating the academic and scientific standing of the Taiwan Society of Lipids and Atherosclerosis (TSLA).

Thanks to the dedication of past presidents, board directors, and supervisors, TSLA has grown into a respected, multidisciplinary society with both academic and clinical strengths. Our members include physicians, medical researchers, pharmacists, dietitians, nurses, case managers, and nurse practitioners — a rare and harmonious composition among professional societies in Taiwan, and a testament to our collective effort.

The Secretariat plays a crucial role in executing the society’s mission. We will be inviting a new generation of professionals from various fields — including stroke, coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, hypertension, and arteriosclerosis — to join our Secretariat team. Our aim is to form a cross-disciplinary and functional task force. With a strong new Secretariat and Board team in place, we earnestly welcome your guidance, expectations, and feedback. Together, we will take on the important responsibility of hosting the 2025 APSAVD Congress. We also strive to advocate for more medical resources on behalf of our members and the healthcare community, to advise the government on sound policy, and to improve the quality of lipid and atherosclerosis care in Taiwan — all in pursuit of a "Healthy Taiwan."

“All our old friends have returned.” We hope everyone will cherish this society, support each other, and show mutual respect. Let us work together to sustain this one-of-a-kind society — always your favorite and most beloved!

Sincerely,
Dr. Ping-Yen Liu
President of the 11th Board
Taiwan Society of Lipids and Atherosclerosis
